Obituary for Richard E. Brown

Dick Brown, age 80, passed away at his home in Lockwood, CA on March 8, 2018. Dick was born in King City, CA on July 4, 1937. His lifelong love for flying airplanes began at age 16, and over time grew into a career, beginning commercially with Resort Airlines. He then served at both King City and Paso Robles Police Departments before joining the California Highway Patrol in 1963. He spent his first seven years as a Highway Patrolman in Newhall and Paso Robles, CA. In 1974, he moved to Coalinga, CA to serve as a CHP pilot for the next 16 years. He flew approximately 9,900 hours out of Coalinga, King City, and Paso Robles. After serving over 30 years in law enforcement, Dick retired in December of 1990 to start farming apples in Lockwood, CA with his wife Connie. During his career and well into his retirement he was a certified flight instructor and taught many people how to fly and smile while doing it. Dick was a proud member of the NRA, Estrella Warbirds Museum, the Paso Robles Elks Lodge, and the EAA. He was fun, loving, warm spirited, and never met a stranger. He will be especially missed by many.

Dick is survived by his wife Connie; two sons Tom and Doug; three grandchildren, Tanya, Stacy, and Ryan; one great grand-daughter Piper; also his sister Darlene. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Gillett and father, Elmore Brown.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Lockwood Community Center, located at: 65951 Lockwood San Lucas Road, Lockwood, CA 93932.
